Help Us Build a Better Picture of the American Sport Horse Market

The American Sport Horse Database is being built to create a more transparent, informed, and connected American sport horse industry.

The database brings together information from breeders, owners, trainers, buyers, and sellers to help us understand not only the horses themselves, but also the market surrounding them.

Each survey captures a different piece of the puzzle. Together, they help tell the story of the American sport horse—from breeding and development to sale and purchase.

Horse Profile

Tell Us About the Horse

The Horse Profile establishes the foundation of the database by documenting a horse's identity, breeding, registration, characteristics, and background.

Your submission helps us understand:

  • What horses make up the American sport horse population?
  • What breeds and bloodlines are represented?
  • Where are horses being bred?
  • How are American-bred horses represented in the market?

The Horse Profile establishes the identity and foundation of each horse in the database.

Stallion Submission

Tell Us About the Stallions Standing at Stud

Stallions play an important role in shaping the future of the American sport horse.

The Stallion Submission collects information about stallions available to American breeders, including their pedigree, breed, performance record, breeding record, location, and breeding services.

This information helps us understand:

  • Which stallions are available to American breeders?
  • What bloodlines are being used?
  • Which performance bloodlines are represented?
  • What breeding resources are available in the United States?

The Stallion Database helps connect breeding decisions with the horses and performance outcomes that follow.

Connecting Buyers & Sellers

Matching What Buyers Want With What Sellers Have Available

The Sales Horse Submission and Buyer Inquiry work together to create a two-sided view of the sport horse market.

A Buyer Inquiry tells us what a buyer is looking for—discipline, age, level, budget, location, breeding, temperament, and other priorities.

A Sales Horse Submission tells us what is available—including the horse's age, breeding, discipline, training, performance, location, and asking price.

As the database grows, these two sources of information can be compared to identify potential matches between horses and buyers.

For example:

Buyer: Looking for a 7–10-year-old Warmblood jumper, 1.30m+ experience, amateur-friendly, $50,000–$100,000.

Sales Horse: 8-year-old Warmblood jumper, 1.35m experience, amateur-friendly, $75,000, located in the U.S.

Potential Match

This doesn't mean that the database guarantees a sale or recommends a horse. Instead, it provides a starting point for connections and gives buyers and sellers an opportunity to discover one another.

The goal is simple:

Help buyers find horses that fit their needs—and help sellers reach buyers who are actually looking for what they have. The more horses that are represented, the better we can understand what is actually available to today's buyers. And the Buyer's Inquiry helps the industry understand what American buyers actually want.

Horse Purchase Profile

Tell Us About a Horse You Bought

Asking prices only tell part of the story.

The Horse Purchase Profile collects information about completed horse transactions—including purchase price or price range, age, training level, discipline, intended use, sale method, and other circumstances surrounding the purchase.

This allows us to study:

  • What buyers are actually paying
  • Which horses are selling
  • At what age and training level
  • How horses are being bought and sold
  • Differences between disciplines and markets
  • The relationship between training, performance, breeding, and price

Purchase information helps move the database from advertised prices to a better understanding of actual market activity.

Our Philosophy

Participation builds the database.
The data creates the insight.
The insight creates the value.

Our goal is to create a system where everyone can contribute to the market without having to pay for visibility, while those who need deeper market intelligence can eventually purchase the research and analytical products built from the collective data.

We Don't Charge You to Be Part of the Market

The American Sport Horse Database is being built through participation. Horse owners, breeders, sellers, buyers, and professionals can contribute information without paying simply to be represented.

As the database grows, we will develop paid market reports and analytical services using aggregated, anonymized data. These reports will help industry professionals understand pricing, supply, demand, breeding trends, buyer behavior, and other forces shaping the American sport horse market.

The more the industry contributes, the more valuable the information becomes for everyone.
