Horse Purchase Survey

Help Us Understand the American Sport Horse Market

Every horse purchase tells us something about the American sport horse market: what buyers are looking for, what horses are actually selling, where horses are coming from, how they are being purchased, and what factors influence their value.

The American Sport Horse Project Horse Purchase Survey collects information about completed horse purchases to help build a more accurate picture of the market.

We are interested in the real-world experience of buyers and sellers, including the horse's age, discipline, level of training and competition, purchase source, location, and—when participants are comfortable sharing it—the purchase price.

Why participate?

Your information helps us:

  • Increase transparency in the sport horse marketplace
  • Educate buyers and sellers about market conditions
  • Identify trends in horse values, disciplines and training levels
  • Better understand the factors that influence the price of a sport horse
  • Provide researchers and industry professionals with better information about the American sport horse economy
  • Build a resource that can ultimately help buyers and sellers make more informed decisions

Your information matters

You do not have to disclose the exact purchase price if you prefer not to. The survey provides options for reporting a price range or choosing not to disclose the amount.

Individual purchase information will be treated as database information rather than a public advertisement, and the Project may use aggregated and anonymized information in future market reports and analysis.

There is currently no charge to participate.

Help us document the market as it really exists.
