The American Sport Horse Project is a research, breeding, media, and development initiative dedicated to building a better American-bred sport horse.

The Project examines the genetics, pedigrees, breeding practices, development, training, and performance of horses competing in dressage, show jumping, and eventing to better understand what produces successful sport horses—and how those lessons can be applied to American breeding programs.

Through research, data analysis, case studies, original reporting, and real-world breeding and development, the Project explores the intersection of bloodlines, athletic ability, rideability, durability, temperament, and training.

The Project also has a dedicated YouTube channel and podcast, bringing the research and stories behind American sport horse breeding and development directly to riders, breeders, trainers, owners, and enthusiasts. Through these platforms, we examine successful horses and bloodlines, follow developing horses, interview industry experts, and explore the ideas shaping the future of American breeding.

Our goal is not simply to produce more horses. It is to develop better horses, better breeding decisions, and a more intentional American sport horse breeding industry.

The American Sport Horse Project brings together the lessons of international sport horse breeding with the strengths of American horses and breeders, including the influence of Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Morgan, Arabian, and other American bloodlines.

Ultimately, the Project is about creating a sustainable pathway from breeding to sport—and building American-bred horses capable of competing at the highest levels of the sport.
